Hey Parish Church!

Below you will find a prayer guide that you can use from the website or download to keep in your own files. The guide is meant to function as simply that...a guide. I am using the Lord's Prayer as a model for how we are to pray. The guide I am providing will give you language for praying through the Lord's Prayer, but you can and should expand and contract it however you think best. 

There are three goals I am pursuing in this call to prayer and fasting that should be evident in the language of prayer:

  1. First, I hope to set our primary focus on the gift Giver and not on the gift.
  2. Second, I hope to press our hearts and minds toward the goal of spiritual maturity. In this, my desire is to foster the discipline of confessing sin, the expectation of growth in knowledge and fruit in living, and the deliberate pursuit of the good of others over yourself. 
  3. Third, I hope to stir and unite our hearts in the common desire to see Parish Church serve the city of Lafayette in reaching people with the good news of Jesus. 


Twice a year I call us to come together as a church for three practical tasks of prayer and fasting: 

  1. To commit to pray as individuals, couples, and families every single day in the month of February and July for the ministry of Parish Church. 
  2. To commit to fast one full day from food during those months, and to replace that time with focused prayer for the church. 
  3. To commit to fast from one "competing allegiance" in your life (t.v., social media, sports, working out, a certain meal of the day, internet, etc.) for the entire month, and to replace that time with focused prayer for the church and time in the Word.  

​I am excited about what the Lord has in store for us as we engage this call as He first ignites our affections for Him, and second, works powerfully in the life and ministry of Parish Church.
